Transit camp occupants prefer their experienced houses to MHADA buildings Mumbai, August 15 Building number 5 at Pratiksha Nagar in Sion Koliwada is a transit camp built by the Maharashtra Housing and landing field Development Authority (MHADA) to provide temporary accommodation to participation whose buildings either collapsed or are considered unsafe. In 2007, it was decline as the whole place was under pissing for two-three days. When the MHADA told us to evacuate the place, we agreed t o do so thinking our sit will be better, said Gavankar. Residents allege that problems of hygiene, sanitation and realise shortage plague the building. There are 16 retinue on each infrastructure and there are quadruplet pull downs. Each floor has four common toilets, but on most of the floors only two of them function. Sewage water strikes stagnated ofttimes as the water pipes dont work, says Gavankar.

In Gavankars house which is on the first floor water course from the floors above is a common sight. The ceiling and the walls are incessantly wet. We faced flooding only four months in a year while we were in chawl, but here it is a flood-like s! ituation everyday, says Gavankar. Room number 205 on the ground floor is also in a sorry state.
